Cecilia Passanti is a Ph.D. candidate in Science, Technology and Society at the University of Paris. She holds an M.A. in Political Science, African Studies from Panthéon-Sorbonne University, an M.A. in History and Philosophy of Science from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Siena.
Cecilia's dissertation focuses on digital election technologies in Africa (Kenya and Senegal) as fieldwork to explore the relationship between neoliberal market logics and those of electoral democracy. The dissertation focuses on the politics (authority, expertise, hierarchies, norms, and market dynamics) that the digital brings to electoral practice and expertise. She is more generally interested in the ways in which government materials and devices influence public action, policies, and political concepts.
