This analytic question set is adapted from an original set developed by the PECE Design Group (led by K. Fortun) to enable collaborative evaluation of diverse digital platforms, aiming to understand how different digital platforms work, enacting particular language ideologies and assumptions about the dynamics of knowledge production and communication. The goal of the original set of questions was to enhance capacity to make sense of digital infrastructure as textual and cultural as well as technical forms.
The ESTS Open Access-Open Data issue editors have adapted the original set of questions to query the technical infrastructures used by online open access and/or open data platforms. These analytics form the basis of a landscape analysis of the approaches and tools in use towards making scholarly content available to broad online publics.
