Summary: In the year 2040, I will be 50 years old. There is a 50/50 chance I will still be alive, at least as this iteration (Lissette Diane Lorenz, citizen of a nation-state with a social security number and a passport; biographical information including date of birth, two human parents, raised in a place on Earth that may or may no longer be above water by 2050. Memories may or may not be accessible to me by 50 years old, even if I am still alive with this body that others recognize as belonging to a human named Lissette. “I” (more accurately I’m a collection of “we’s”—take the microbiome as one easily digestible example, making they/them pronouns even more appealing) have left behind a trail of collaborative art-science interventions, one of which I/we have published on, called Rustbelt Theater: Environmental Justice Narratives from South Elyria Ohio. By 2040, ideally I will have completed my doctoral dissertation decades before, and maybe the title of that art-science intervention would follow the same formula: “______ Theater: ______ Justice Narratives from ______.”  If academia hasn’t supported my art-science interventions by now, other communities will have, regardless of whether they were paid gigs or counted towards my “career” or not. It’s not about the money or the credentials or the position. It’s about the act of creation. I guess that’s what makes us a “mad citizen art-scientist.”
